New York Criminal Defense Attorney

The Law Office of Bryan J. Swerling caters to the needs of people who have been arrested in any of New York City’s five boroughs, as well as Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester Counties. In the State of New York a violation is not considered a crime. However, both misdemeanors and felonies are considered crimes and can have a detrimental impact on your career, immigration status, and family life.

Often the consequences of either pleading to or being convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are not seen right away. Frequently it can come back to haunt defendants down the road in life when they are applying for jobs, school, citizenship, or they simply want to remain in the United States.

It is not unusual for a defendant to plead to a crime in an effort to save money and avoid the aggravation of having to appear in court multiple times or avoid the embarrassment that can come from standing trial. However, that is not necessarily the best course of action. In fact, it is extremely important that if you are charged with a crime, that you are aware of all of your options and the consequences of each option before you make a decision that could affect your life forever.

Our goal at The Law Office of Bryan J. Swerling is inform our clients and to keep them abreast of the important developments in their cases so that they can make intelligent, informed, and well reasoned decisions.
